We strongly advise that you not go running with Achilles tendinitis. Whereas you may be physically able to run, it would be quite painful and lead to further damage in your tendon. Additionally, you would experience limited ankle flexibility due to the condition.
The first step of treating this injury is to stop running and initiate the RICE treatment protocol. This entails using rest, ice, compression and elevation to reduce the swelling and pain that accompanies the ailment and give your body the time it needs to heal itself.
If you want to maintain physical conditioning while healing from the injury, you might be able to switch to an exercise like swimming that does not strain your Achilles tendon, but consult with our office first.
